Joe and Sarah Marcum are both lifelong Hamiltonians. They met in the eighth grade at the former Adams Elementary School in Hamilton. Joe and Sarah have five children, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to their home here in Hamilton, they own homes in Florida and Michigan, but they always refer to Hamilton as home. Joe was a founding member of the Boys and Girls Club of Hamilton and has served on numerous boards including: the Hamilton Community Foundation, Fort Hamilton Hospital, the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, and TVHamilton.
Which three words would you use to describe Hamilton?
HISTORY. REBIRTH. AFFORDABLE.
What is your favorite thing about Hamilton?
Hamilton is our hometown. It was a great place to grow up and then to raise our family.
What inspires you to give back to the community?
We enjoy helping and making a positive difference in our city.
How do you hope Marcum Park will impact the city?
We hope that the park will be enjoyed by Hamiltonians. We wanted to create a family-friendly space in the city. The location ties in nicely with RiversEdge and the park is easily accessible for the community.
“HAMILTON WOULD NOT BE WHAT IT IS TODAY WITHOUT THE GENEROSITY AND SUPPORT OF JOE AND SARAH MARCUM. THEIR SELFLESS GIFTS TO COMMUNITY PROJECTS SHOW THEIR COMMITMENT TO MAKING THE CITY A BETTER PLACE.”
– John Guidugli
